You have, already inside you, the same power that allows a mother to lift a car off her child, that enables a soldier to carry his wounded buddy to safety against impossible odds, that empowers the athlete to find something deep inside that set new world records.
This same power can …
That puzzled me, too, but recently I learned that the continuing development of hypnosis was a kind of ‘underground’ movement in the medical and therapy communities, and it wasn’t until the emergence of two astounding men, that the simple truth that gives these powers, reliably, became something that you or I could obtain.
And also, most people never realize that there are three branches of hypnosis – what I call the Three Pillars of Hypnotic Power – I just like the sound of that, do you? And like a three-legged stool, if any one of them is missing, well, you really don’t want to try to sit on it. Only all three legs give you the support you really want!
Be assured I will come back to the Three Pillars of Hypnotic Power, but first, the strange story of how the science of hypnotism was transformed; that is, how did it mutate into something of startling power, so that you and I can easily begin to influence people around us, and can transform yourself into the person like you always dreamed of becoming?
Here’s how it happened …

Once upon a time, hypnosis was forbidden by the Medical Association. But there was this one psychiatrist, an amazing man who had overcome polio and many difficulties, and he developed a method of putting his patients into a trance, just by talking with them.
Imagine. No swinging a watch before their eyes, none of that “Your eyes are getting sleepy, sleepy.” No mystical robes, candlelight, or incense smoke rising into the scented air.
Nope. Just an old guy with a cane, sitting in a chair, and talking with his patients, sometimes telling little stories, with just ordinary talk.
Except that it really wasn’t. It wasn’t ordinary at all.
In fact, it was very, very special. Special patterns of language that speak directly to the unconscious mind, that can evoke the amazing power of the unconscious mind.
You may not know it, but we owe nearly all of our knowledge of special language patterns to this one man, who developed what we now call Conversational Hypnosis, the ability to induce trance, just in conversation. This man’s name was Milton Erickson.
Alas, it wouldn’t have done you or me much good though. Because Dr. Erickson thought these powerful hypnosis techniques should never “get into the wrong hands,” and should be taught only to doctors.
But luckily for you and me, the Erickson patterns were documented and became known, and as hypnotherapists and others learned of their power, the science of hypnosis underwent transformation.

This radical transformation came to the notice of a young Englishman named Igor Ledochowski. He’d learned something of hypnosis early on, and used it to attain his goal, for he had dreamed and worked hard to become a successful lawyer in a top legal firm, because he wanted the travel and prestige that a really good international lawyer might enjoy.
But after reaching his goal, he discovered a greater fascination in the almost-magical powers of the unconscious mind, and how to use that power using these new and powerful hypnotic methods. In an astounding career move, one day he walked away from his very posh legal job, and then he buckled down and studied for ten years, and now he’s attained an even greater success, for he is now often seen as the best hypnotist in the world.
And this is very good news for you and me because:
In a moment, I’ll explain how I accessed the “real stuff” and how you can use it, too.
And I’ll explain why you need all three of the Three Pillars of Hypnotic Power if you *really* want to be the one in charge, to be the one the others admire, to be the one who can transform himself into the person you always dreamed of being.
What is this Hypnotism?
How does it work, really?
Does it really work?
